MICROBAN® COLLECTION is a sophisticated line of antimicrobial porcelain tiles spanning an impressive array of nuanced designs modeled from real marble, natural stone, wood and other materials. The new “green” product is the perfect substitute for Natural Stone. Created with built-in Microban® technology and in partnership with Panariagroup, this collection inhibits the growth of stain and odor-causing bacteria on the surface of the tiles to help create clean and fresh spaces. MICROBAN® COLLECTION, available in both standard tile formats and larger slabs in a variety of different finishes, can be applied to any surface, including floors, walls, countertops, and cabinetry. This collection costs less than natural stone and offers LEED-certified protection for the same price as traditional porcelain.
MICROBAN® COLLECTION tiles can be effectively complemented by the use of other antimicrobial building materials, such as the tile grout offered by Laticrete.

The technology used in MICROBAN® COLLECTION is based on silver ions which block the metabolism of bacteria and prevents their growth and reproduction on the surface. Unlike other technologies, such as those based on the use of Titanium Dioxide, the protective shield is always active on the surface, day and night, with or without sunlight, not requiring any UV rays for activation. Silver ions are always active and guarantees a high level of surface protection in-between normal cleaning routines.
Research has shown that bacteria can double in number on untreated surfaces every 20 minutes. The chart below shows an unprotected surface compared to a surface with Microban® Technology protection.
